Product Classification
Product classification provides an additional dimension to organize and filter products beyond categories and groups. It allows you to tag products with business-relevant labels that help in filtering, reporting, and decision-making.
What is Product Classification?
Classification is a simple tagging mechanism that adds another layer of organization to your products. While categories define the structural hierarchy and groups bundle products for operations, classification provides flexible tags for filtering and analysis.
Examples of Classification Types:
| Classification Type | Possible Values |
|---|---|
| ABC Class | A, B, C |
| Source | Outsourced, Produced In-house, Traded |
| Movement | Fast Moving, Slow Moving, Non-Moving |
| Product Line | Premium, Standard, Economy |
| Lifecycle | New, Active, Phasing Out, Discontinued |
A product can have multiple classifications assigned. For example, a product could be tagged as "A Class" + "Produced In-house" + "Fast Moving" simultaneously.

- Select the classification type and choose the appropriate value
- Save
How It Works with Categories and Groups
| Concept | Purpose | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Categories | Structural hierarchy | Electronics → Computers → Laptops |
| Groups | Operational bundling | "Summer Sale Items" |
| Classification | Filtering dimension | A Class, Outsourced, Fast Moving |
Together, these three concepts let you organize products structurally (categories), bundle them for campaigns (groups), and filter them by business attributes (classification) for better product management.
