BANT (Budget, Authority, Need, Timeline)

BANT (Budget, Authority, Need, Timeline) is a qualification framework used to assess whether an opportunity is worth pursuing. It helps sales teams prioritize leads and opportunities by capturing four critical dimensions:

  • Budget — Does the prospect have the budget or range to purchase?
  • Authority — Is the contact the decision maker or can they influence the decision?
  • Need — Is there a clear business need that your solution addresses?
  • Timeline — What is the expected timeframe for a purchase?
